Managing Director, John Jarrett, explained how his business relationship with McGills first began. He said: “Around 2002, our sole accountant retired and we contacted a number of local auditors to appoint a successor. Amongst those who provided quotations was McGills and after a good first meeting with Simon Nuttall we placed the business with them.
“We were looking for a long-term appointment and had a good feeling that we could work with Simon, who was clearly interested in our business – both from a technical and financial viewpoint – an interest he has personally maintained over the last 14 years.”
McGills provides HUK with a full annual audit and provision of financial statements for submission to directors and shareholders.
This involves discussions with Simon and his audit staff prior to, during and after draft accounts are produced; followed by submission of final accounts to Companies House and provision of all required adjustments at the start of the following year’s accounts.
John continued: “From time to time, we have consulted McGills on various matters relating to company finances. Simon has always provided good advice, which he delivers in a prompt and friendly manner.”
Simon and the team also supported HUK during challenging times.
John explained: “McGills provided good support and advice throughout a difficult customer dispute, involving a customer who had withheld a payment, exceeding £100,000, for several years. Eventually, the matter was resolved through arbitration which found fully in HUK’s favour.”
Commenting on his working relationship with McGills, John said: “Simon and the team are professional, open, friendly and respectful. If I had to single out one over-riding asset they have brought to our business I would say they have given us full confidence in our accounts.
“I have already recommended McGills to a number of other people and will certainly continue to do so in the future.”
