Sharla Dandy joined McGills in March 2017 as a Partner’s Assistant, with nearly 20 years’ accountancy experience with businesses in and around the Cotswolds. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser.
She is experienced in matters including statutory accounts, corporation tax returns, personal tax, partnership accounts and tax, as well as payroll and bookkeeping. Sharla worked on accountancy-related matters within her own family’s business for more than 15 years, so she has a particular appreciation of the challenges faced by family businesses in the Cotswolds.
Sharla trained as a Chartered Accountant for a top 10 firm in Cheltenham where she worked for 5 years progressing to supervisory level. Keen to also experience working in industry Sharla then moved to a large building society where she was a management accountant for 2 years before having her 2 children.
Deciding to step back into practice after starting her family, she worked for a small local practice at managerial level for 4 years. Having gained an insight into how a small practice operated, she was inspired to then set up and ran her own practice in 2009. In association with this she also qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser and headed up the accounts department for a new tax practice in Cheltenham.
Sharla has received academic awards and national industry awards and brings a wealth and variety of experience to the practice. Her very personable approach gives a refreshing aspect and she is able to provide knowledgeable advice in accountancy as well and taxation.
